ARCHITECTURE IS WHAT YOU FEEL LIKE HOME

Two flats one on the other, two of a kind: grandmother is downstairs, rest of the family is upstairs.

Sometime grandmother leaves the house, thus son of her and his wife move downstairs while grandchildren stay home upstairs.

The design goal is to look who’s coming and never forget who’s gone: a mystical door was built with a floor-to-ceiling breaking light as well as the greyscaled paints set a physical switch from previous uses to new ones.

Reorganization of a private house as a single frame in time, when the times they’re a changing.

Due appartamenti identici, uno sull’altro: sotto la nonna, sopra la famiglia del figlio.

Un giorno l’appartamento della nonna si libera, il figlio e sua moglie si trasferiscono di sotto e i nipoti rimangono sopra.

Il progetto deve pensare a chi arriva senza dimenticare chi se n’è andato: un taglio di luce da sopra a sotto evoca un passaggio metafisico, e la decorazione che entra e esce dalle stanze dichiara il passaggio reale tra le nuove funzioni e le precedenti.

Una rifunzionalizzazione che è fotografia del cambiamento.
